You will find Dirty South squeezed between the Lewisham and Blackheath borders. From the outside, it looks like a regular up-and-coming London pub. Industrial decor, dark coloured walls, twenty to thirty-something clientele. Dirty South has a strong backstory though, in 2011 it was one of the many places trashed during the London riots.
Thankfully Lewisham has changed a lot since the riots. What used to be a rather rough neighbourhood is now an area of developments and improvements and with that comes great perks like Dirty South.
Andrew and I are regulars there so I am not sure why it took me so long to share this place on here. But the wait was worth it as I am sure this place will not disappoint you!
Dirty South is a nice chilled bar during the week and a lively one on weekends with music, DJs and a cocktail list as long as my arm!
The bartenders know what they are doing so you can confidently pick a flavour you like or your signature drink. My personal favourites are the Negroni, the Ginfleur and the Pink Lady.
Andrew opted for a beer when we went last Friday, less photogenic, but you will have to excuse him. He is only a normal non-content-creator human after all.
Now, Dirty South is not the best-kept secret I want to share with you today. The real best-kept secret is Dirty South’s food menu. Indeed rather than serving conventional average pub food, Dirty South partnered with Other Side Fried. Why doing it all by yourself when someone else can do it better and help you?
Other Side Fried speciality is fried chicken and I can honestly say that their fried chicken burger is THE BEST I have ever had. And I have been to many food places and countries.
We always order the same things when we visit. Andrew goes for the Buffalo burger and I have the OSF one. It is hard to try something different on the menu when you know how good these are, but I heard great things about the Celerica, so I will have to give it a go at some point.
With these, we usually share a regular serving of fries which is enough for the two of us.
Dirty South is definitely one of our favourite places to unwind and meet friends for some drinks after a long week!
