When planning our trip to Morocco, we knew we wanted to find the right balance between immersing ourselves in the buzz of the Moroccan cities, and unwinding on what was our first vacation since Christmas. We were also very keen to experience an authentic riad stay. So when finding Riad Le Calife we booked without hesitation, it offered both the genuine Moroccan experience and the haven of peace and tranquility we were after.

Tucked away in the small streets of Fez Medina, Riad Le Calife is an oasis of calm in the middle of the very lively Fez.

Moroccan Riads can be very deceiving from the outside, and Riad Le Calife is no exception. A small door leads guests to a vast home. Just like Russian dolls, the place keeps on giving with a hidden garden, a big rooftop, a bar and vast amount of communal space to lounge and relax.

Once in the courtyard, you are surrounded by trees, birds and many places to hide and read while sipping on some mint tea.

Our room was exceptional – spacious, luxurious and tastefully decorated.

During our stay we were genuinely looking forward to head back ‘home’ while visiting the Medina.

Fez is an incredible city but it can get overwhelming and knowing that you have somewhere quiet to escape to at the end of a long hot day is very comforting.

The breakfast was delicious and quantities generous, giving us a taste of authentic Moroccan food and keeping us full for most of the day.

We also had dinner there and again the set menu was tasty and helped us discover dishes like Chicken Rfissa which we may have otherwise missed on.
All meals are served on the top floor where the views of Fez are splendid.

But the real highlight of Riad Le Calif is its staff. The owners are adorable and extremely helpful! Everyone goes above and beyond to make you feel at home and help you plan your stay.
Nothing is too much trouble and the entire team is incredibly proactive, planning refreshing drinks, taxis and early departure and catering for any specific request. You can also tell they enjoy working together.

I can honestly say that it was one of the most exceptional hotels we ever stayed at.

From the interior decor to to the attention to details, from the amenities to the most attentive staff, Riad Le Calife is truly a little piece of heaven in the heart of Fez.
