Vila Louro – Torres Vedras, Portugal

When we plan our vacations, we like to find places to stay which are comfortable, with a boutique feel, and reasonably priced. With my obsession with interior design, I am also a sucker for nicely decorated spaces. This is why we decided to stay at Vila Louro, for a few days during our trip to Portugal. It is authentic, beautiful, gives easy access to the coast and is the perfect spot to relax in the sun.

Vila Louro

Originally a family home, brothers Filipe and Paulo Louro da Silva transformed the place into a tranquil and elegant oasis. We met Filipe who told us that rather than selling this family property, they decided to keep it an recreate the atmosphere and experiences of their childhood for others to enjoy. With only 9 rooms, all modernly decorated, Vila Louro has an authentic yet updated feel.

Vila Louro

We stayed in one of the Superior Double Rooms in the annexe facing the pool. The bedroom was very spacious and comfortable and the polished concrete floors and bathroom gave me major interior inspiration.

We also had our own little terrace where we had lunches a couple of time (there are a few supermarkets close by).

Breakfast was included with our room and delicious! Filipe explained to us that they made sure to include in the buffet some traditional and family recipes.

The garden is beautiful and covered with orange and lemon trees. A green escape away from the drier fields around the village.

The swimming pool area is inviting and most of the time quiet which makes it a great place to catch a bit of sun and finish a good book.

Bikes are available for the guests to cycle to the beach and around the village. It is good to note that you will still need a car to visit the towns and beaches a little further away.

A great relaxing at Vila Louro stay where rural Portugal meets the Atlantic ocean!

Grace Hotel – Mykonos, Greece

We went island hopping in Greece for our honeymoon and Andrew was in charge of planning it all and he did an excellent job booking this place! We had the chance of calling Grace Hotel our home during our stay in Mykonos, and I could not recommend it enough!

We were warmly welcomed by the friendliest staff, and with a glass of champagne in our hand, we were given a tour of all the facilities before being taken to our room. Grace Hotel is so beautiful we knew straight away that we were staying somewhere very special.

The hotel offers spa treatments which I obviously made the most of (you only honeymoon once, right?!), it also has an amazing restaurant and a dreamy swimming pool!

The most difficult decision we had to make during our stay was to choose between coffee, smoothie or champagne for breakfast (all of them please!).

Did I talk about the view?

Grace Hotel Mykonos

Well, not this one, but it is great too!

Most rooms have very large balconies where you can nap or watch the cruise ships pass by. The way the hotel is designed offers great privacy, the only times we ran into people where at breakfast and by the pool which is great for honeymooners as you just want to enjoy time with each other without any care in the world.

The staff is the real highlight of Grace Mykonos though. They have excellent knowledge of the area and will help you with any booking or activities you may want to organise.

The hotel is just outside Mykonos town, and with complimentary shuttle into town, you can get there in 10 minutes.

We also stayed at their Santorini hotel and both stays were amazing! We were two very happy guests and cannot wait to return!

Now if you want to make your stay exceptional, and truly feel special, I may just know the place. Facing Skaros Rock, the Grace Hotel is one of his kind, nested on the cliff of the Caldera with views to die for!

Perfectly located in Imerovigli, you will be able to easily walk to Fira and even hike to Oia if you want! It is also one of the best spots to enjoy the sunset.

We stayed in the Honeymoon suite as we were there for – you guessed it – our honeymoon, and I never felt as special as then and there. Andrew had planned our entire honeymoon so it was the best surprise to arrive at such a beautiful hotel – it easily exceeded all my expectations!

The rooms are really comfortable and real interior inspiration!

From the moment we entered the hotel the staff knew who we were and why we were there. Everybody is so considerate and lovely, and any member of staff will happily help plan activities and give recommendations to make the stay even more memorable.

We spend most of the following four days in our very own plunge pool with the best view on the entire island.

Agriturismo Tenuta Yala – Italy, Puglia

I have been regularly going to Italy for many years, and every time I go, I make sure to stay in an Agriturismo. They are family owned farms transformed into B&Bs and they really never disappoint! It is usually great value for money, you have the opportunity to try the local cuisine and spend time with the family who will give you all the local insider tips! A great option when you are looking for more authentic experience.

Gates of Tenuta Yala Puglia

When we planned our trip to Puglia, I immediately searched the web for a great Agriturismo in the region and it didn’t take me long to find Tenuta Yala.

Tenuta Yala Puglia

Tenuta Yala is lost in the middle of the vineyards and only a 15 minutes drive from Gallipoli which offers plenty of entertainment and restaurants.

The place is just dreamy…

It is good to note that the owners don’t really speak English or French, so a lot of comical miming was necessary when we visited. It only adds to the charm of the place and you will still make friends with them!

The rooms are big and beautifully decorated. They all offer uninterrupted views of the vineyards. You can really forget which time of the day it is in such a relaxing place.

The swimming pool is the perfect place to make the most of the sun.

And the flat roofs of the farm are the perfect spot to enjoy the beautiful Italian sunsets with a glass of vino!

They also have a restaurant on site which serves simple but delicious local cuisine. Unfortunately, I didn’t take any picture of the meals as I was too busy stuffing my face with pasta.

If you are planning to explore Puglia, make sure to make Tenuta Yala your base, you won’t regret it!
